Sefton Park Primary Raises Record Amounts in Spring Tenner Tournament

We are delighted to announce Sefton Park Primary School as the winners of the March 2014 Deki Tenner Tournament. Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils raised an amazing £2,410, more than any school in any previous tournament.

Sefton Park Primary School, Bristol Brunel Academy, Filton College and Backwell School took part in this round and raised a grand total of nearly £3,000 overall, making the running total for Tenner activities now over £7,000. We want to say a big thank you to all the participants.

A Closer Look at Sefton Park

143 children from Sefton Park Primary School took part in the competition, turning £10 into as much profit as possible during the month of March. Their activities culminated in the Entrepreneurs Fair on Monday 24th March at the school. This was a really busy event where the children sold their products to friends and family.

MP for Bristol West Stephen Williams and Vashti Seth, CEO and founder of Deki went along to Sefton Park School last week to present certificates and a trophy to the winners. The winning team were also awarded with a day out at Go Ape, the U.K.’s No1 forest adventure. Stephen Willliams said ‘It’s wonderful to see the children taking the time to raise money for families in much poorer parts of the world. Aid and assistance for the developing world is a huge issue in my postbag so I am sure this is something that parents were delighted to help with too’.

Bristol and South Gloucestershire schools have really shown enterprise. The Deki Tenner Tournament has been all about teamwork, creativity and strategic thinking and we hope that the children will use the skills they’ve gained later on in life. What’s more, there’s a feel-good-factor because all the money raised will be lent directly to our worthy entrepreneurs. We’ve invited the children to choose which entrepreneurs they’d like to lend to; this means they will get to see how their hard work pays off.

Deki look forward to taking the Deki Tenner Tournament on into the future, and we’re sure that other schools will soon be rivalling Sefton Park for that number one spot!
