Schools
Why choose our schools programme?
Kids learn better in an engaging, hands-on way. In spring 2011 we saw this in Wyedean School in Gloucestershire where Deki provided case studies for Citizenship classes in years 7-11.
After some learning and fact-finding students chose a number of entrepreneurs to support from the Deki website and engaged in various creative activities to raise money for lending. The fundraising campaign was a huge success and got children truly involved.
School’s Nominated Charity
We have been very successful in engaging school children in the past. If you’re looking for a Nominated Charity for your school that can also offer activities to engage and educate kids, look no further.

Developing Essential Skills

Interactive learning methods develop essential skills. Some of the skills that the programme develops:
- Speaking and listening: making contributions to group discussions and work towards reaching consensus within a group
- Reading and understanding: selecting and using different types of text to extract information
- Motivation: knowing how to bring about change in oneself and others
- Empathy: seeing the world from other people's point of view
- Analytical skills: what makes some borrowers more attractive than others?
- Fundraising and people skills
- Numeracy skills: calculations relating to microloans
- Project management skills: the course was taught as a compact project starting with a goal and a plan and finishing with reflecting on the results
- Knowledge on world poverty, different ways of alleviating poverty (charitable giving, loans), factors that contribute to it (such as climate change).
